To ensure the best results and a smooth recovery, please follow these guidelines carefully before and after your treatment.
Schedule your treatment at a time when minor swelling or bruising will not disrupt your social obligations. Plan for 7–14 days for complete recovery — though many patients experience no bruising at all. Every person is different.
Discontinue blood-thinning substances 10 days prior (with approval from your primary care provider). This includes aspirin, ibuprofen (Motrin/Advil), naproxen, Aleve, fish oil, St. John's Wort, flax, Vitamin E, Vitamin D, garlic, Ginkgo Biloba, ginseng, and similar products.
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your injectable treatment — alcohol acts as a blood thinner and can increase the likelihood of bruising.
Consider taking Arnica Montana (natural supplement) to help minimize bruising — 5 tablets, three times per day, starting one week before treatment.
Notify us if you have a history of cold sores — we may consider pre-medicating with an antiviral prescription before treatment.
Cancel your appointment if you have any open sores in the treatment area. Contact us as soon as possible so we can reschedule.
Disclose all medical conditions and medications you are currently taking before your treatment begins.
Most patients see optimal results within 10–14 days after their treatment. Follow these aftercare instructions closely to protect your results and minimize any side effects.
Keep the area clean and dry. Avoid applying makeup or skincare products to the treated areas for at least 4 hours post-treatment.
Stay upright for 4 hours after Botox injections. Avoid lying down or bending forward, which can cause product migration.
Apply ice (not direct pressure) to reduce swelling if needed — gently around the treated area, not on it.
